Thursday 3rd Nov

Arrival Day

Arrive at your accommodation, dump your bags and join the gang for welcome drinks in the bar or on the terrace. This is time to relax and get to know your fellow runners. Later on there'll be dinner served at your hotel and you can drink and chat into the night.

Friday 4th Nov

Introduction to Africa Day

Today, after a hearty breakfast, you'll get an introduction to the astonishing beauty of the Rift Valley in Uganda with an acclimatisation 5k jog or walk around a stunning crater lake. Finished off with some fun and games, and maybe even a cheeky tennis or badminton tournament.

After a well deserved lunch enjoy strolling around the local town of Fort Portal. Try your hand at haggling in the markets, enjoy a Nile Beer in a local bar, sample some street food and see some sights.

This evening you'll get one step closer to understanding the African running secret as we load up on authentic African carbs at a carb party in a local restaurant in Fort Portal. Well stuffed it's home to bed, ready for the run tomorrow!

Saturday 5th Nov

Race Day

After breakfast we'll head to the race start line to join the expat and local runners and feel the atmosphere start to buzz. You'll set off for the run early to get the best conditions and you'll spend the next few hours enjoying breathtaking views over the Rift Valley and Rwenzori Mountains. You'll have lots of cheering from locals and some very cute children running along beside you. Underfoot you'll have the bouncy African mud paths and lush plants will offer some shade and lots to look at.

You'll hear the finish line cheering before you see it - come and join the crowds smiling ear to ear. Then get stuck into a BBQ buffet while you cheer in the others!

The kids race in the afternoon will be another highlight to this already electrifying day. Cheer and whistle as the kids fly by, help marshall and present the medals (if you have the energy!).

Later we'll have an award ceremony, medal giving and a race after-party!

Sunday 6th Nov

Kids Day

Once you're fully recuperated from your race (and the evening fun), today you're going to meet some of the children the marathon is supporting while getting involved in a very special event! We have worked with Kyaninga Child Development Centre to put on a Kids 'Special Olympics' in Fort Portal.

Play games with the children, cheer them on in races, give out prizes, make them smile, make friends and just generally get involved! This is a great charity and today is all about experiencing something special with amazing children. There's also another BBQ to enjoy with the kids.

As this is your last night, it's only right to make it a night of immense merriment so tonight is the night to eat, drink and be very merry among new friends!
